This one probably had it's barrel replaced at the end of the 1939 or 1940 season. At the end of each season, the rifles were returned to the Depot and if the barrel was worn out, the Marines would replace the barrels and the rifles would be known as Special Target rifles after. The National Matches purchased by the Marines were all used by the Active and Reserve team in competitions. It started life as a National Match which the Marines bought in either the 1935 or 1936 season. This is a Marine Special Target rifle that was converted to a Marine Unertl Sniper rifle post January 1943. I have never posted this over here, but I'm bored today.
